See, Kristin, I'll try English and get a thousand hits and become world famous.
I'm telling you, Weekend Sewing is my favorite sewing book. And the flower girl dresses are addictive. So simple, so pretty, so quintessentially little girl dressy. With my new serger, I can even whip up one in a little more than an hour.
Sewing this dress was a little bittersweet, though. It did feel as if cutting up the fabric was the final end of a dream and hope; not my own, but my hopes and wishes for someone else.
For the longest time, I saved this Amy Butler Lotus fabric for a friend of mine who was trying for a baby. It was meant to become the outer fabric of a diaper bag for her, a thoughtful, hopeful baby shower gift.
But the baby never came, and she finally put her dreams and plans for motherhood to rest last year. It was time for me to move on, too.
Now its the new favorite dress of my own, very much alive 4-year-old.
